Former LSU football star wide receiver signs with new NFL squad

A former LSU football wide receiver has a new home in the NFL. DJ Chark signed a one-year deal with the Atlanta Falcons, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Chark was drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2018, where he spent the first four years of his career. Following Jacksonville, Chark made stops in Detroit, Carolina, and LA. Chark surpassed 1,000 yards with the Jags in 2019, catching 73 passes for 1,008 yards and eight touchdowns. Chark averaged 13.8 yards per catch and earned Pro Bowl honors. With the Chargers in 2024, Chark didn't see much time. He only appeared in seven games and caught four passes for 31 yards. In his seven-year career, Chark has caught 216 passes for 3,100 yards and 24 touchdowns. Throughout his career, Chark has been known as a speedster who can take the top off a defense. He averaged 16.7 yards per catch with the Lions in 2022. Chark spent four years at LSU and emerged as one of the SEC's best receivers in 2017. Chark caught 40 passes for 874 yards, an average of 21.9 yards per reception. He was critical on special teams, too. Browns WR Cedric Tillman exits Friday's practice with leg injury

The Cleveland Browns failed to make any substantial upgrade to their wide receiver room, and now may be in hot water as a result. Wide receiver Cedric Tillman, who missed the back half of the season with a concussion, has once again left the practice field with another injury. Tillman injured his leg and did not return to practice. The Browns did not give an update on the status of Tillman, as he is likely undergoing further testing. This leaves the Browns incredibly thin at the position behind Pro Bowler Jerry Jeudy. The only substantial move that the Browns made was to bring in Diontae Johnson on a one-year deal, a player who burned through three locker rooms in 2024. David Bell has also started the season on Physically Unable to Perform. This means the Browns will get a healthy dose of second-year player Jamari Thrash, who has much to prove after essentially a net-zero rookie season. Tillman, while he had a miniature breakout in 2024, has to stay on the field for the Browns to be able to count on him. We'll know soon just how severe an injury that Tillman is facing, as the Browns will likely be cautious with him the rest of training camp. Broncos' 4th-round draft pick from 2024 'doing well' this offseason

After a quiet rookie year on offense, Denver Broncos wide receiver Marvin Mims had a breakout season in Year 2. Broncos coach Sean Payton believes Troy Franklin could make a similar leap in his second season this fall. 'We see him as a 'Z' [receiver]," Payton said of Franklin on February 25. "We move our guys around a bit, so it's not exclusively. I thought he had a good rookie year. "He's sometimes in that same position where Mims is at, so we have two guys. We have certainly gotten faster because both of those guys can run. We saw that growth spurt with Marvin in Year 2, but I would say I was real pleased how he handled the totality of his rookie season. It can be difficult, and I see him in that role.' Following those comments from Payton in February, Franklin impressed during the team's spring workouts. The 6-2, 180-pound speedster was praised by his coach last month. 'You haven't been able to see all the plays, but there have been a number of explosive plays," Payton said on June 5. "He can run, and I would say a strength of his is ball in hand after the catch. He can run after the catch. He's doing well.' Franklin bulked up this offseason, but he still has the same speed and explosiveness that made him such a dynamic prospect coming out of college. After another full offseason of practice reps, the 22-year-old receiver could be poised for a big leap in Year 2. 'There's that [saying that] repetition is the mother of learning," Payton said on June 13. "You're seeing him play faster with a much greater awareness within each play. He's extremely explosive, and I think he's, I would say, five pounds heavier. A little thicker. He's had a good spring.' After being picked by the Broncos in the fourth round of last year's draft out of Oregon, Franklin hauled in 28 receptions for 263 yards and two touchdowns in 16 games last fall. Payton seems confident that Franklin will build on those totals in his second season. Related: These 25 celebrities are Broncos fans. Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb out to remind the NFL of his dominance

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb is considered among the top wide receivers in the NFL but after what could be considered a down season for his standard last year, he's ready to get back to dominance. Limited to just 15 games in the 2024 season, Lamb finished the year with 101 receptions, 1,194 receiving yards, and 6 touchdowns, a big decrease from the previous year. In 2023, Lamb had the best season of his career, grabbing 135 receptions, 1,749 receiving yards, and 12 touchdowns, establishing himself as one of the league's best at his position. While he was caught up in a contract controversy during training camp last season, Lamb enters this year with a set contract and the same can be said for his quarterback Dak Prescott, and the veteran receiver believes there will be a big payoff this season. Speaking to the media after training camp practice this week, Lamb told the team website that he is prepared to show that he's one of the league's most dominant receivers. "I feel like the league knows what happens when I'm healthy and I have Dak for a whole season," Lamb told "But if you don't, I will happily show you what it's going to be like this year. Honestly, I'm a dominant receiver. I don't like to speak highly of myself, but I can't wait to show you guys." Coming in with no contract concerns and a clean bill of health, Lamb's confidence is apparent as he prepares for the 2025 season. He'll have plenty of chemistry with Prescott, but they'll work under new head coach Brian Schottenheimer who is in first season with the team.
